Learn to Sail at Wakatere
Waka Compass is the club's learn to sail programme, designed for beginners to introduce them to sailing.
Wakatere is a family club with opportunities to learn at all ages. Whether you are a parent looking to provide a new experience for your child, or an adult looking for a new activity to try out, there is a space for you with us.
The Waka Compass Programme is divided by age:
Waka Confidence (8-11yrs)
Waka Adventure (12-17yrs)
and Waka Adults
Each group starts with the basics of learning to sail, then builds knowledge and understanding tailored to the needs of each group.

Do I need to be a member?
Yes membership is required. We are a members club with an annual subscription.
For all entry level Learn to Sail courses, for all ages, a special "LTS Invitational Membership" is already included in the course fee. This covers the period of the course.
If you want to continue to the next level after your LTS course has finished, upgrade to a full membership. More about membership
