Located on the waterfront, Wakatere offers more than just sailing. We make our club hall available for venue hire to the wider community. Availability is seasonal and dependent on our sailing programme but don't fret, we're more than happy to work with you to make it happen!
Our Auckland venue hire is the ideal venue for a wide range of events, including special celebrations, reunions, memorial services, and business meetings. The venue can accommodate up to 120 guests and boasts a picturesque view of Auckland's Rangitoto framed by large pohutukawa trees. Our amazing beachfront location adds a special touch to any occasion.

What catering options are available?
Wakatere Boating Club is one of the few venues in Auckland that allows self-catering and BYO. You can save money by bringing your alcohol and have full control over your catering requirements.
The Wakatere kitchen has the following amenities available:

How accessible is the venue?
By car Devonport is accessible via both the Northern and Southern motorways. Take the Esmonde Rd exit and follow the signs to Devonport, then Narrow Neck Beach.
Free public car park directly across the road for vehicles and charter buses at Woodall Park
Pedestrian crossing

All buses in and out of Devonport (from the Devonport ferry terminal to Takapuna bus depot) pass the club with a bus stop at Narrow Neck

Commercial Use - What do I need to know?
Note that permission from Auckland Council's ATEED is required for filming in public spaces.
In the event of clashes with pre-existing Wakatere sailing or venue hire, especially funerals, weddings & regattas, the organisers of all events in our immediate area (including TV and filming) must consult with Wakatere about planned operations prior to the activity. CONTACT US

Wakatere Venue Hire Expression of Interest Form
Drop a line to our Venue Hire Manager to check if your dream date is free and schedule a grand tour! The venue's capacity is capped at 120, including caterers, musicians, paparazzi, and the like. And just a heads up, we're a volunteer-run club, so please bear with us if we're a tad slow in getting back to you.
We are currently taking bookings for 2024 & 2025. Rates on request.
