Learn to Sail

Courses are run for children, youth and adult groups.

The Wakatere LTS courses are led by a Yachting New Zealand qualified Learn to Sail instructors and follow the Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail curriculum.

Juniors use club Optimist dinghies, Seniors & Youth use club RS Fevas. *minimum age 8yrs at the time of junior courses.

Sailors must be able to swim 50 metres unaided wearing a PFD (personal floating device) and sailing gear and must be available to attend all of the days of the course to obtain the course certificate in order to move onto other Wakatere sailing programmes.

What to bring:

  • Buoyancy Vest (personal flotation device) or club/lost property ones available
  • Wet-suit (short/long sleeve)
  • Polyprop clothing
  • Togs
  • Towel
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Lunch/snacks
  • Water bottle

2019/20 FEES

JUNIOR & YOUTH: total fee is $430. This includes 2019/20 Junior season membership

ADULT: total fee is $535. This includes 2019/20 Senior season membership
